We are very pleased to hear that the Department of Transportation is doubling the available compensation for passengers who get bumped on overbooked flights. Travelers forced onto another flight that takes them to their destination more than two hours after their original arrival times will be eligible for the full price of their fare, up to $800. The new rule applies to most planes carrying more than 30 passengers and is likely to go into effect next month. The previous limit of $400 has been in effect since 1978.
